DAILY SUPPORT GROUP TIME:
I haven't had a really good night of sleep in about 9 years. Oh, every once in a while, with the aid of a prescription, I pick up 6-7 hours, but on the average, I sleep between 3-5 hours a night.
Why?
1. restless legs
2. sleep apnea (can't use mask/claustraphobic)
3. insomnia (trouble getting asleep)
4. hypopnia (troubles staying asleep)
And now that there's so much going on in my life, I just can't get my mind to shut up. So much to think about and worry about and plan about. Thoughts swim. I hear weird sounds. Rooster crowing (any and all hours of the night).
Really, I wish I **could** sleep.
Sleep is important to everyone. We "download" our memories and thoughts from the day so we can start fresh the next. We process discussions and troubles through dream-state to come up with possible solutions. We regenerate our cells and muscles and skin and .. so forth. We even burn calories (2 calories per minute) by just laying there and sleeping!
Everyone needs sleep to be healthy.
Do YOU get enough? If not, how come?
