Day 38 Thu Weigh In argh argh!

First the good news. Got test results back from the blood work I had done last week (or was it the week before?!?!). I am NO LONGER PRE-DIABETIC! My fasting glucose level was the lowest it's been since I've been with this insurance (about 3 years). Yahoo! Yep, that's the good news.

Argh. So if I'm no longer pre-diabetic, much more active and eating less but healthier... WHY AREN'T I LOSING WEIGHT?!?!

Weighed in at 242.2 this morning. No change.

Yeah, I know. At least I didn't gain this time, right? And I could have the little mental dialogue about how it's probably muscle because I'm much more active now. Or how I haven't had gluten in 38 days. Or how I'm eating a lot more veggies and fruit now. But those are just excuses, right? I need to work harder, and eat smaller portions.

Did I ever tell you about how I used to be? Get up, fix me and my Kid breakfast, start him on his schoolwork, and go back to bed to watch TV. Get up, fix us lunch, and back to bed to watch more TV. Might run out for fast food for dinner or hit the grocery store, then back for more TV. On days I worked (as a nanny), I might get up and play with the kids or I might just read books or watch them play until it was diaper time.

See? Not much activity. Hate to exercise so I never did any. Now I **am** exercising, but seem to have hit a plateau. Advice?

Awesome test results! That's news worth celebrating!

As for breaking the plateau...are you tracking your calories at all? I don't actively do it now, but whenever I'm feeling as though I'm drifting in the wrong direction, I keep track for a couple days to see if I'm eating too many calories. (There are probably many other ways, but that's the only way I know how to do it.)

No, I'm not. I really hate that part, and barely want to track what I eat, exercise and do. I guess I've got that mental thing that if I track calories, then I'm on a (sssh) diet (sssh) which is a set up for failure. Or has been in the pest.

I'll think about it. Thanks. Vee

Great news from the Doc! :)

I was going to say the same as Cammy- You gotta track to see if you are eating too many OR too little! Both are not helpful to us on our weight loss journeys.

I know it's not fun to track but it is very helpful to see what we are doing wrong/right.

Great results from the doc! Congratulations! :)

Cammy, Vee and TJ all have really great advice - I notice that I will completely stop losing (and even gain) if I do not track!
