Another day of no success

I can't seem to get back into eating healthy... after the illness, and still more things happening, it seems like I can do ok but by the time Hubby gets home from work, I'm starving and craving food. Junk. Like pizza and cheeseburgers and ice cream and shakes and etc. etc. etc.

Like... yesterday I ate greek yogurt for breakfast, and a couple of boiled eggs plus an apple plus a couple of rice crackers. When Hubby got home from work, we left to take the puppy to the vet (3 1/2 months old at 30 pounds!), then Petco for a dog whistle, then Vitamin Cottage for yogurt and gluten-free bread, then we (argh!) stopped at Wendy's where I got 2 jr. bacon cheeseburgers and a strawberry shake and a root beer! I was sick in the bathroom within 2 hours.

What happened to me? I can't seem to focus, and again, all I can think about is eating those foods I crave.

Sigh.

As a side note but still related, Hubby and I have a blog that isn't related to my health, and we're running our first blog contest in a couple of weeks. In my quest for donated prizes, a lady offered her raw foods book. It got me thinking: quite a while ago, I did the raw foods diet, got healthy, lost weight, and felt ok - until a significant event set me off of it and I couldn't make myself go back on. I'm wondering how many people are successfully on the raw/live food diet?

I wonder if I changed my habits all at once instead of a little at a time (and going raw-foods is big!)... would I be able to handle it better.

Your advice... please. Vee

Internalize the fact you're worth the health and the effort. It took me awhile to do that myself, but 50+ pounds minus later, I'm glad I did.

Hang in there, Barbara

Hang in there! Personally I think sticking to small changes add up big time. The progress might be slow, but they make for the best permanent changes. Good luck with what ever you decide.

I agree with Barbara, but I also think you need to get mad at yourself. Don't buy junk food and make a weekly schedule of what you want to accomplish - regarding your diet and life in general. And, the key is: do not make your goals unrealistic. If you can take two 30 min. walks a week (to start) and eat 1 piece of fruit + 1 serving of veggies a day - GREAT. It's fun to check things off your list too. I have a calendar on the fridge and every day I run on the treadmill, I put the # of miles I went in RED on it. When I look at that, it's an awesome feeling. Just DO IT, as our friends at Nike say. Good luck. One day at a time, too. Just try to stay away from really bad foods. In fact, avoid ice cream, etc. during the week THEN have one free day, like Sat. or Sun. to eat virtually whatever. Soon, you'll crave the good stuff and not want the junk as much. All the best to you!!!

it IS all about the small seemingly TINY changes which will add up to big dips in the scale over time.

DONT BEAT YOURSELF UP OVER ALL THIS---If I can lend a hand you know where to find me!
