ITCHY AND HOT

Did I write about my allergy? I recently discovered that the reason I'm so itchy and my fingers are raw and bleeding, and why my lips are swollen ... is that I'm allergic to a chemical that's found in most soaps, shampoos, printer ink, toilet paper, and more. It goes by many many names, and isn't always found on ingredient lists because it's not required. I've tried all kinds of things my dermatologist has put me on, but nothing helped. I can barely type, and milking the goat is VERY difficult. I also don't sleep, for lots of reasons, but also because I'm so itchy. There's no cure, and no allergy shot. We try yet one more thing on Thursday: a cortizone shot. Hope hope!

Yesterday, I was so hot that I just didn't feel like eating. For lunch, never did anything besides the cherries. I know ... I really needed protein but just didn't feel like it. For dinner, just a bowl of cereal, raspberries and milk. Yeah, not thrilling but it's all I felt like having.

Plus, Hubby and I got into another huge fight last night. That on top of everything else. I honestly am almost beyond my tolerance level to adult-childishness. What's the freaking deal about an autistic kid shuffling his feet? Good god, get over it!

Okay. Sorry.

Today, I drank a protein drink before going out to do livestock chores. I probably should eat something but today's gonna be another scorcher and again, nothing sounds good. Plus I can feel myself falling into a depression funk. No time. Have to build a buck goat pen today. And post our goat babies on Craigslist.

Have a great day.

Edited on 6/7/11 at 10:53 a.m. to add: all of these chemical names (below) are the same chemical that I'm allergic to. It's used (non-inclusive list) in: latex products, cosmetics, cleaning products (personal and home use), printer ink, and more. I can use some "sensitive skin" products but they are usually expensive. Problem is, even if I eliminated everything, if I shake hands with someone with lotion, my body's reaction is like I never got off the chemical. People look at me weird when I pull out  my own soap in a public restroom, or when I try to explain not shaking hands.

oh my gosh. This is terrible. So sorry, Vee. I hope cortizone works for you. Have you every looked into Melaleuca products? They're very enviro-friendly. You gotta join them to get the discounts, but you can also purchase their stuff at non-member prices. Just a thought! xoxo to you!

One other thing, I'm a big believe in foods/diet that can heal. I encourage you to go as healthy as possible. Perhaps eliminating certain foods (like processed stuff - if you eat that stuff) will help strengthen your body against these allergens. Kind of like detox.

What is the chemical called that you are allergic to?

Thanks everyone. I edited the posting to include the chemical name and it's other pseudonyms. LONG list, huh?

Thanks Josie. I haven't heard of those products ... will have to look into that. As far as the diet, well, I'm working towards non-processed foods... as close to natural as possible. Taking it one step at a time.
