I Blame White Castle

Ramblin' Thoughts:

Do you live near a White Castle burger joint? I did. I grew up in Louisville, KY, where it was a ritual for date night or after staying up really late to go get 4 (or 6 or 8 or 10) burgers, onion rings and a Big Red (red cream soda). Burgers were called sliders because they basically slid through the digestive system. That why you ended your night with them, not started.

And the little square burgers were small. So ordering 4 was like ordering two McDonald's cheeseburgers. They had little holes in each patty, and were "grilled" in oil and onions. Cheese was slapped on at the end, and their special spicey mustard with a bit of ketchup was squirted on. Quite the culinary experience. Not the Four Seasons but still...

So.. I'm fat. And I blame White Castle.

Whenever I go back to KY to visit family, we have to stop at White Castle. There, I can eat 4 burgers and not feel guilty. Well, not as guilty as if I ate 4 from McDonald's. But seriously... I grew up with the mind set that 4 burgers isn't so bad. It's a manageable number, and very acceptable even.

Not in the real world.

Darn.

Gee, thanks Vee. Now I have to push that image out of my mind.

I'm glad you wrote that - even with the tongue in cheek.

I am so glad I don't live or work anywhere near a burger supplier of any kind, and certainly not those, lol!

Mind you, the local fish-n-chip shops are another story...
